73 miles
1 lock
Got a fairly early start and headed to the gas dock about 8am. Topped off the tanks, our stay was comped with gas fill up, yay! Chatted with the wonderful owner and her son and found some great finds in the marina store, homemade salsa, a hat, and sandals. The tug was exiting and we had only a short wait to enter the lock by the time we arrived. We had called ahead and he said 40 minutes to an hour wait. Cruised for a couple hours with much more comfortable temperatures. Stopped over in Madison, Indiana and did some sight seeing. Madison has a beautiful riverfront park. We walked through town and saw many incredible historic homes and Lanier Mansion. The museum was free and had some really interesting displays and exhibits. Then walked back down main street and stopped for ice cream, yum!
I "let" Erik go a little harder on the throttle so we would have a little time to sight see when we got to Louisville. Topped off tanks again(it's 120 miles to next gas stop). Arrived st Louisville municipal free dock about 5pm. We made had dinner then went for a bike ride into town.
After seeing some sights(most places/museums were closed) we came back to the boat and watched the colorful light show on the bridge. We used our boat shower for the first time and it actually worked pretty well! Then off to bed for a hopefully early start tomorrow.
