It was mostly a lazy day. A needed second day sitting still at a marina with nice amenities. We both woke early and Erik took Riva for a walk and bike ride around the harbor walk while Renee fell back to sleep for a spell.

Whew…those morning bike rides and walks really wear Riva out |
Derek is leaving from Columbus this morning to head this way. He will be spending the last 5 days or so with us aboard and we are excited to have him experience a short part of our journeys. We also have Tom, an AGLCA Harbor Host coming to the marina at 4 pm to pick up our SUV that Derek will be bringing and he and his wife are going to graciously deliver our car for us to St Joseph MI where we will be ending this years voyage. This will make two years in a row that a Harbor Host has really gone out of their way to accommodate us on our trip: they are a GREAT resource to utilize!
There are some potentially strong storms predicted for this evening but the morning and early afternoon were just warm and very breezy. We took the time to call several Chicago area marinas to see if we could get in earlier than Sunday and also called Dusable and Burnham Harbor back to ask them to put us on a waiting list for Friday/Saturday of there happened to be any cancellations.
After a light lunch of cheese and crackers we watched a fellow Looper aboard ‘Cat Bottomed Girl’ coming into the harbor to dock. There vessel is a 36’ power catamaran; this the name CAT bottom girl. Lol. Their docking experience looked WAY more professional and graceful than ours did a couple days ago. Booorrrrring! Bahaha.

Riva needed a little exercise so we took her on our bikes up to the dog park. There were no other doggy friends for her to play with and we were preparing to leave, because it was very hot, when two other dogs arrived. Bear (a beautiful shepherd) and Pie (a Boston terrier) kept Riva company for another short while.
Derek got to the marina at 3pm and we spent time with him visiting and getting him settled in. We are excited to have family along for a stent….welcome aboard Derek! A little after 4 our new friends and harbor host in the area, Tom and Colletta, came to pick up our car. We all had dinner at the Red Dog while sharing stories of looping adventures.
The predicted rain for the evening never developed so after dinner we headed to the pool for a relaxing evening swim. The evening was rounded rounded out by enjoying conversation and a nice sunset on the aft deck.
Too much chatting and not enough laps |
Yep….it happened again this evening |
