Another day dawns |
Morning coffee and a nice sunrise, what a way to start the day ☀️🤩. Headed to the Alano club just up the street from the marina for an 8am meeting. Once we arrived we found out it is a men’s meeting, the women’s meeting is at 9:30am. The men let Renee stay for the meeting, and it was a good one! After the meeting we headed to “Smoke on the Water” a little restaurant that a review had said they had the best sausage gravy and biscuits. A man from the meeting told us they had a delicious wild rice porridge so we decided to try it. YUM!!! The porridge was a treat, with wild rice, cranberries, hazelnuts, and cream. The bisquits and gravy did not disappoint either 😋. After breakfast we headed back to the boat to get ready to head to Petoskey, just about 17 miles today.
Morning gratitude meeting Nice Alano club with many members |
Fulfilling breakfast and a walk Last couple mushroom houses from the water on our way out |
We headed out on pretty smooth waters for our short trip to Petoskey. Once we got tied up we headed out with Riva to check out the town and surroundings. A little shopping and a little caramel frappe from the local coffee shop before heading back to the boat. Stopped and visited with fellow looper Gary aboard Salish Sunrise. They are from Everett Washington, but bought their loop boat in North Carolina, a 44 foot Defever. They had done the Bahamas, east coast, and much of Canada. They were getting ready to head into Lake Superior.
We took a little break (nap) before heading to the beach to look for Petoskey stones. We are pretty sure we found a few, along with several just cool and pretty rocks😊.
Our haul |
Pretty sure these are the only three true Petoskey stones We will polish these three up |
River running through town next to the marina had people fly fishing on it |
Riva loves her free frisbee from the Charlevoix farm market |
After dinner we headed over to meet a gold looper family; Kent and Katie and their children Ruby and Violet aboard “Silver Linings”. They have been traveling with their two children and dog and had crossed their wake in Lake Huron where they had purchased their boat. They are in contract to sell their loop boat if all goes as planned! They are spending the last couple weeks aboard with mixed emotions as they head down to Leland for Independence Day and to turn the boat over to its new owners. Hopefully it’s new owners will enjoy it and make as many great memories aboard as they have. They have hopes and aspirations to acquire a bluewater vessel (more suited for oceangoing voyages) after Kent retires to live aboard and explore more of Canada and the Caribbean. It is fun to meet and share experiences with wonderful Godly folk who share our love of cruising
The day concluded back aboard Happy Destiny to finish off strawberries and angel food cake 🍰 before bed 😴
“We shall be with you in the fellowship of the spirit, and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the road OF happy destiny”
