Renee and Riva slept in (relative to Erik) and upon awakening Renee took off in the rental van to head to the Verizon store to hopefully get help getting the cheap, pay as you go, phone she had picked up at Walmart yesterday working. She had spent a good part of the evening yesterday unsuccessfully getting it set up while supposedly chatting with an agent, although we are convinced it was an A.I agent based on the answers and responses being given. Erik stayed back and gave the outside of the boat a good cleaning. She arrived back at 9:30 with a guy from the rental car shop dropping her off and fortunately was successful in getting the phone to work. Vince, the car shop owner had also stopped by and visited again for a bit.
A small shop on the main drag just above the canal features all woman made products Anyone need any ‘Panic Panties’ or ‘Yampons’ 😂 |
At around 10:45 we departed the Seneca Falls wall heading west for the first time of this trip. We made a 7.8 mile ride on the Seneca and Cayuga Canal to Barrett’s Marina to fill the tanks.

Gone fishing |
We took on 151 gallons of gas at a bargain price on $4.69 per gallon; this actually was a bargain as compared to other gas prices in the area. The owner helped us dock and filled the tanks for us. He was a super friendly guy. He told us he started working for the marina in 1968 and bought the marina in 1976. After we had cruised at no wake speed, locked through one lock up to the lake, and baked in the sun while getting gas we were VERY hot and sweaty. It was just another couple hundred feet on the canal out to Seneca Lake so we cruised out into the lake about a mile before stopping to float and swim. Diving into the 77 degree water was something of a spiritual experience…..ahhhhhhhh. We didn’t stay at the lake long, only about 30 minutes, because the hot sunny haze on the lake was appearing to produce thunderstorms to the south of us and we began to hear thunder in the distance.
Notice how clear the water is! |
Riva and Erik wasted no time cooling off
The cruise back to the wall in Seneca Falls was uneventful. We chose to drive from the lower, inside helm to avoid the blistering sun up on the flybridge. When we arrived back at the wall yet another looper boat had come in and was tied up in the spot we had been in earlier. We pulled into the spot in front of them and quickly got plugged in and AC running. We never did see any of the thunderstorms that ended up all going just to the south of us. We relaxed and napped for an hour or so before grilling up a delicious thick cut steak for dinner. As we were departing to walk over to a 7pm meeting at a nearby church we ended up standing around the wall chatting with all three of the other looper couples before moving on to the meeting. The meeting was another good, engaging one where we read and were reminded that ‘There Is A Solution’…..thank God!
Trinity Episcopal Church where the AA meeting this evening was held Beautiful limestone church built in 1885 featuring three Tiffany windows |
Another historic church just down the street |
The remainder of the evening was spent relaxing, catching up with some family on the phone, and sitting in our recliners in the AC to watch ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’. Neither of us believe we had ever watched the classic before, so, no better time!
We seen the bad moon rising |
It truly is a wonderful life here in Seneca Falls! |
‘The Robert Redford’ Oh my!! While at Parkers On Fall last night for dinner our waitress talked up this delight that they were sold out of |
