6/1/24 - Catawba Island to Cleveland “Rock N Dock”

Pic out of order, but, makes for a good title picture
If you look closely Happy Destiny’s fly bridge enclosure is between the ‘e’ and ‘v’

Happy Destiny and Trudge are ready to cruise

By the dawns early light

All of the food at ‘The Que’ is yummy
The jalapeño cornbread is a fav

We arrived to the boat mid afternoon Friday May 31 to load and prep for our adventures!  After some loading and a grocery store run we headed to “The Que” for a delish bbq dinner 😋.  Early to bed and early to rise for a 6:30 meeting with some new friends in Port Clinton.  One more Walmart trip and back to the boat where Chelsea took our car and headed home and we boarded Happy Destiny to begin this years adventures.  Our only issue thus far is that we still don’t have a working generator even after having the marina service department work on it and spending B.O.A.T (bust out another thousand) money.  They diagnosed, changed plugs, changed oil, took apart and cleaned carburetor…..still won’t keep running.  Service managers new diagnosis is that the fuel pump is bad and not putting out enough fuel :-(

We shoved off about 8:30am from Pier 53 with decent lake conditions of mild breeze and 0-1foot waves.  Beautiful cruising weather with sunshine all day 🌞.

Erik’s eyes got heavy midway through the trip so he and Riva took a little nap on the bridge while Renee drove

Cruising into Cleveland harbor

Pedestrian bridge raising up to allow us into the harbor

Arrived in Cleveland about 2:30pm at Oasis North Coast Marina.  We took Riva to stretch her legs before hopping on the bikes to check out the West Side Market.  The market had so much delicious looking food but with a very full freezer we only got some almond, lemon, garlic humus, a stuffed portobello mushroom, and a bean soup mix.  We checked out a dog park on our way back that did not look very thrilling.

Time to find some market goodies
Although SOOOO tempting we resisted the urge for the many sweat treats

When we got back to the boat Erik made some amazing chicken shish-kabobs which we ate on the aft deck.

Lean and green
For the queen!

Erik hopped on the bike and met Devin at a meeting while Riva and Renee walked the park for a while.  Quiet evening on the back deck before calling it a night after our first day on the water for this years journey.

All tied up in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Erik wishes he’d been alive to watch Jim carry the ball and the Browns

Da BROWNS

Crowds of people just outside the marina

All showing their pride

Happy Destiny looked nice with the night time lit up sky line
