Riva found a good cool spot to enjoy the beginning of her cruise to St Mary’s |
Today was a day of “wait and see” or one minute at a time. Coffee and blogging until Erik made some bacon and blueberry pancakes. The boat yard said they would pull the boat likely between 9 and 11 am so we waited for the phone call to bring the boat over. Finally about 11 Linda in their offices called and said they would be ready for us in about a half hour. We started packing things up and disconnecting to head to the “sling”. As we pulled up they were pulling two boats out of the bay so we waited till the path was clear then pulled into the lift well. It’s always an amazing feat to watch them walk the boat into the sling, position it so the straps are just right, then lift it right up out of the water! Happy Destiny looks even bigger when hanging in the air. They set some blocks underneath and left her in the sling to do the needed repair. Assuming they had everything they needed we headed over to visit with Kim while they made the repair. She lives literally across the street from the marina and we visited with our friendly Harbor Host for about an hour telling stories and touring her beautiful condo. At about 1pm we headed back hoping the boat was done or at least close to being done. Much to our dismay, when we returned we found that they had not even started. But after talking to a few people the wheels slowly began to spin. Renee and Riva waited in the air conditioned office with “ the dog pound” lol. There were 3 dogs in the office today! Erik went aboard the not air conditioned boat to “help” with the repairs. A short time later Erik and the other guys exited the boat with good news, nothing was broken but rather a part on the valve had come loose and tightening the nut appeared to fix the leak. They put her back in the water to confirm this and sure enough we were not taking on any water!
After settling up for the “short haul” and labor we loaded the bikes onto the boat and headed out towards St Mary’s, a 41 mile cruise. We heard they have a symphony on Friday evenings you can hear from the tranquil anchorage directly next to St Mary’s College so we were hopeful to catch some of that. In doing a little research we found that they had different music today for their 6th annual Mulberry Festival.
